"We have seen His star in the East, and have come to worship Him"
It was the 25th of December, on the night of Christmas,
when all was noisy-and-a-flustered at the neighbour's house
clans, kinsmen and kind (same macam kawans) arrived at the appointed hour
to convene the customary Christmas evening at the Ong's
Ham and Turkey, cranberries and pineapple slices, bowls of greens
silver spoons, neat napkins, snowmen dancing on the linen
***
magi and angel, Santa and sheiks
all they "want for Christmas is a hippopotamus
nothing else will do ooo oooo . . . " sings the Elfin King
while the magi (Peter, James and Me!) enact the journey to the east following the star
while the choir sang "We Three Kings of Orient"
the party was entertained
and the party, entertaining
***
a round of carols on the piano for everyone
and presents exchanged while we sipped
apple cider (ok, I imagined that) warming in English china
Faye's plum pudding with caramel and cream deserves a second, third, and so forth helping!
Un-sanitized Christmas(?) stockings hanging from the fireplace (electric?)
Ong, Ong, Ong, Ong and Ong sings "We five Ongs (kings) of Orient are . . . "
Peter, who works as an elf at a Melbourne hospital.
A knitted winter cap for the huntsman and a bow for his hound.
The magi, Christmas angel and the Elfin King (Ong) who announced . . . the start of dinner.
Santa James held the wooden spoon for Ian the Oriental to hit the pot lid that the dotty angel
was holding.
was holding.
Got that?
The magi and dotty angel journeyed from armchair to scaling the Christmas tree
to bring treasures of gold, franckinsence and myrrh.
A warm and wonderful Yuletide tale!
