On the way to Kelantan!
Day broke after setting off at 6.45 am, three quarters of an hour off our determined 6 am departure, after some early morning hiccups. Like waiting three quarters of an hour for a couple who thought we are leaving tomorrow instead of this morning. Meanwhile, while waiting, the rest of the bus has disembarked in search of nearby Koay Teow Th'ng breakfast, and toilet. So when said couple arrived, the bus is empty, and the tour guide has to run around rounding up her tour group, and the coach captained helped by honking.
We travelled up North using the Titi Wangsa highway to Kelantan. On the way I spotted this waterfall.
Strong handsome granite faces
Between Kedah and Perak
Arrived at Grik or Gerik by noon.
The pet hobby in this area seems to be
bird singing, watched by an audience
of older men, from the coffee shops
We trooped to Soon Lee for lunch.
All these dishes for only RM15 per person.
A decent meal at a good price.
These ixoras are quite special.
The stem has multiple leaves
leading up to the bunch of buds.
so so much green, it looks wonderful!
Stopped again, at Amiza Titi Wangsa for
a cup of tea and a view. The army also decides
to stop at the same restaurant and rest area.
Army guys catching up on chat.
Lovely view of the Titi Wangsa range
And lovely flowers, not seen in the lowlands.
The air does feel cooler
These glorious red rosa sinensis
are huge, as big as my face!!!
Alamandas
Tried to take this picture to show the scale
of the rosa sinensis in the background,
but it's too far away to show its actual size.
Can you spot an elephant in the making?
Logs.
I have not seen logs this big
being transported in a while.
Makes a pretty picture too.
We googled Bukit Bunga as a place to stop
for shopping. It is a mish mash of pasta malam
range of items and quality, but there are foodstuff
we don't find quite often too.
Like buah salak
si sa gun.
Coconut nut, grated and roasted, and
mixed with sugar to make a sweet snack.
Bukit Bunga.
But I did not see any flowers here
Pillows and bolsters seem to be a favourite
buy here. Why would people crossing over
from east west Malaysia buy bolsters here?
Log lorry and army trucks.
