Kampong Losong. Titi Wangsa Range

It's my last day in Trengganu.
I got the security guard to climb up the
frangipani tree to take this picture. Hee!

I woke up early to take a walk on the beach.
The expanse of clean sand and open sky is
very uplifting.

The garden of the Primula Hotel is well-kept.

And this is my new batik sarong,
in a refreshing shade of green.
I bought the sarong from Siti Khatijah
market in Kelantan, for RM70.
And my wayang Julia pendant made of
filigree silver.

Sweet smelling white frangipani and
a little spirit house, but this one is a lamp.

The hotel has bus runs that takes the tourist
to the market, town, scenic stops and places
of interests

Bas (Bus) Kite, in Trengganu.
It's 'kita' in Bahasa Malaysia.

Very convenient.

Our tour group was bussed out to Chinatown.

And then to market

We were let down to do some last minute
shopping.  The vendors at the market sells
an assortment of of vegetables, sauces and
local food products. Up the first floor are batik,
sarong and clothes shops

This brass shop has pots, pans and all sorts
of interesting stuff

A kueh bulu mould made of brass.
Or is this copper?

A handyman's shop that sells hoes, candlesticks
and nyonya tali pinggang belts.

This colourful candy rolls are actually
filled with sisagun.  Grandmother use
to make these sweet snacks.  Grated
coconut is roasted and gula Melaka or
sugar is added.  Enjoy!

Biscuits and sweets packed in natural leaf
packaging

Kretek!

The bananas are inexpensive, and so are
the Ulam salad spread here.

Pisang jantung to make kerabu salad
and young nangka for curry patcheri

One of the ladies passed me this sweet.
She tells me its a dried pickled grape, and
that it helps indigestion in children and adults.

Our next stop at Kampong Losong,
keropok capital of Trengganu.

Along the street are many shops selling dried
and packed fish, prawn, squid crackers.

We passed by the Museum office and gallery.
It's housed in a lovely old style kampong house.

'Pop pop' fruit from a climber

steamed fish cakes

I could finish this barrel of fish crackers!

And more!
So I bought an assortment of fish crackers.

The owner tells me I am pretty, and promptly
presented me a big packet of fish crackers!
Here I am with Awang, trying to look 'pretty'
deserving of the fishy present.

The royal palace has extensive grounds and stables.
I could only get a picture of the gate as we whizz by.

Oh, I'd love to attend this dance performance.
But alas . . .

Trengganu tourism office has nice ads

Sorry, this belongs to Terrapuri,
which is still on my mind. . .

Hmmm.  these pics are from Warisan Sari.
Wonder how they got here.

We are finished with leaker and keropok,
and head out west towards home.

The very beautiful Titi Wangsa Range
which is one of the highest mountain ranges
in Peninsula Malaysia

We stopped here to view the sunset

And get re-aquainted with this giant
lilac hibiscus

See how it stands out among the flowers

Queueing up for my nasi kerabu.
I shall skip this fried fishballs and sausages,
not my palate at all.

What a blessing indeed!
I sat out on this hill in the cool of the evening
and look out to the Titi Wangsa ranges

While enjoying my nasi kerabu dinner -
herbal rice, keropok, Ulam, salted egg
a piece of fried chicken, and sambal.
Bliss!
