MyTQA

Received an invitation to attend a MyTQA briefing

This is Malaysia's Tourism Quality Assurance
by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia

The pilot was in Langkawi

List of names of Tourism Malaysia's
MyTQA appointed Assessors and Auditors
for Malaysia's Tourism sites
 and tourist attractions.

Yeah!
This lady is bumped off for Assessor
training to grade The Top, Komtar.

This is a  good group, led by Mr. Lim
with Yogan the Deputy Director of Tourism
Kedah as sidekick, and three other very useful
government officers.  And I!

Each group of Assessors sat down to run
through the site requirements
for MyTQA certification

MOTAC then fed us a good helping of buffet lunch

The power of advertising -
Su Li tells us the masak lemak
tumeric clams are delicious, and
soon everyone has the curry clams
on their plates!

And then we are bussed off to our site  training.  One half went to the Ghost  Museum while the rest will go to recce  The Top, 65th and 68th floor of Komtar.  Yogan and Nizam, Tourism officers,  proving that the full lunch have NOT lulled them to sleep.

1.1  Is the frontage and entrance clearly
visible and marked?

1.2 Is it clearly and easily accessible?

Not amused.  Yogan and Haszeel photo bombed my selfie!  Of course Yogan remembered me.  We first met, Deputy Director of Tourism Kedah and I,  on my Langkawi media trip where he arranged for me to parasail over the Indian Ocean in my sarong Kebaya.

A view of The Top!
4.5. Is natural lighting used to light up
the place? Yes? No? Not Applicable?

Please look after other people's property.
Example of indulgent adults who
allow a child to 'play' with an exhibit.

Deputy Director checking out
2.5 Are visitors provided with clear information
 about programmes, attractions and activities?

3.8. Are entrance fees clearly displayed?

Yogan checking out 5.8, playing the 'difficult' tourist having a tantrum. Are the staff trained to handle 'difficult' tourists and demands? Miss Pauline passed with flying colours.

Security?  Checked.

The staff throwing this bunch of
'difficult' tourists to the dinosaurs.

A sardine can of 11 Assessors being transported up 65 floors in 1.20 mins.

6.2 Are tourists briefed about the site and attractions? This informative video ends with the screen opening to reveal the scene of the city of GeorgeTown below.  What a fantastic surprise!

7.1.  Are exhibits curated and labelled to provide information?

8.2. Are there activities the tourist can engage in?
I have to keep telling myself that this is just a 'floor'.

Heights can make one does weird things.
Or look weird.
Camera wrongly set on panorama mode

OK, this is better, and less scary.
This is a safe 'test' before the real thing
on level 68!

7.5 Are the souvenirs related to or reflect the tourism product?

7.6 Are the gifts and souvenirs locally made?

Finally made it to the upper open deck.
So close to the clouds!

Top of the World!

And finally, braving the Rainbow Walk.

Yes, I did it alone!
(unlike the warm and wonderful photos
of the Chief Minister and the Minister
of Tourism and Culture holding hands,
 earlier this year :o)

Nyonya and Hazreel from Ministry of Tourism, Putrajaya, taking a leisurely break.  Don't we look cute in our blue booties!

The trick is NOT to look down.  Works for me!

The beautiful roof scape of GeorgeTown.

And a jig with Kim Seng . . .  " See! no hands!!!"
3.8. Is the entrance fee clearly stated and visible?

And now, for a ride on the zebra, on the carousel . . .
