A tale of love and friendship in multiethnic Old Penang. Four friends of different backgrounds takes the audience on a tour of the lively
spice trade, street festivals, pilgrims listening to talks at the
mosque, ships docking at the jetty, secret society fights (I love the red and white flag fights)and dancing at
the amusement parks. The stories are gleaned from the local communities, and puppets, local costumes, multiethnic
languages and live folk music makes it all come alive

I particularly like them including incidents
in the history of Penang, such as a scene on
the Red flags and White flags conflict, chingay
-yes, with glove puppets balancing giant chingay flags
and stories and history weaved into this play
Watch the cute lions roll, tumble and climb
to get the angpow at the end of the stick!

There is hope for Penang's potent, seeing
these young people as live musicians.
Potehi: Kisah Pulau Pinang is part of George Town
Festival's offering to the people of Penang, and
visitors. This free show was held at the State Musuem,
